Stephen King
Happy Halloween! In celebration of my favorite holiday, I spent time reminiscing on my favorite Stephen King novels, so far. What better way to honor this holiday, than spending time with the master of horror?!
My all-time favorite Stephen King novel is, The Shining. I had seen the movies and television mini series hundreds of times before reading the book, and the book is phenomenal! No movie or mini series can do this novel justice!!
Carrie definitely ranks close to the top of my list. I feel a special love for some of King’s earliest masterpieces.
My initial exposure to King was through the movies based on his books…when they first came out. Yes, I’m dating myself! Haha I’ve seen them all so many times it’s ridiculous. When they come on TV, I can’t help but to stop scrolling the guide and watch for a bit. When I finally read Pet Sematary, I was blown away by the awesomeness of this book!
The novel, It, is the quintessential horror book! Pennywise is out of this world creepy!!
Bag of Bones is quite different from King’s earlier works and the books I have listed thus far. It’s kind of a romantic ghost story. I fell in love with this one because it’s quite different.
Lisey’s Story is even further off the typical Stephen King horror spectrum. It’s filled with suspense and really tapped into the reader’s realistic fears.
Wrapping up my Halloween trip down memory lane with Stephen King, I absolutely loved Duma Key. The Florida Keys hold a special place in my heart and so did this book. 11/22/63 was absolutely incredible! I haven’t watched the miniseries or whatever film was made about this book, because I don’t want to spoil my memory of this story. Lastly, the book Elevation blew me away. I had low expectations for this one, probably because it’s so small, but it surprised me in the best possible way.
