Break Shot: My First 21 Years (by James Taylor)

I started listening to James Taylor in the early 1990’s, so when Audible offered this short memoir free to members, I didn’t hesitate adding it to my library. Break Shot: My First 21 Years, is narrated by James Taylor and recorded at his home studio in Massachusetts. He openly shares about his upbringing and family dynamics as he grew up in Massachusetts and North Carolina. It’s interesting to hear him talk about committing himself to a psychiatric hospital and heroin addiction. The audiobook is extremely well produced as James Taylor sings portions of his songs that correspond to the stories.

The audiobook is an Audible Original and at only an hour and a half in length, it’s a quick listen. I appreciate James Taylor being transparent about his family and the difficulties he has been through. Memoirs, such as this one, are extremely eye opening as I learn so much about a person’s life that is unexpected.
