Set in Appalachia, Bull Mountain by Brian Panowich, tells the story of a family’s legacy of violence, drugs, guns, and intimidation. Panowich is a talented writer. This story doesn’t just build suspense for the end, he eloquently drops revelations and connections throughout the story. (My jaw dropped several times.) There’s moments of cruelty and gritty humor…moments of levity are needed when absorbing oneself into the lives of these characters. Fans of David Joy will love this.
