It’s the End of the World As We Know It (Anthology)
In September, my husband and I embarked on a vacation to Arizona and had the delightful opportunity to visit my beloved independent bookstore, The Poisoned Pen, located in Scottsdale. While browsing the store, I stumbled upon copies of It’s the End of the World as We Know It, an authorized anthology of stories set in the apocalyptic world of Stephen King’s The Stand. Upon closer inspection, I noticed a small stack of books that had been signed by Meg Gardiner, one of the authors who contributed to this collection.
Intrigued by this discovery, I approached The Poisoned Pen’s esteemed bookseller, Patrick, to inquire about the book. He informed me that the books were available for purchase, but they were temporarily holding some copies for customers who had requested additional authors to sign the books. I expressed my interest in having additional authors sign the book, and Patrick readily agreed to assist me in completing the transaction and holding the book for me.
Patrick informed me that Richard Chizmar and Joe R. Lansdale were scheduled to visit The Poisoned Pen throughout the end of October. In November, I called the bookstore to inquire about the status of the scheduled authors. Since no additional authors were scheduled in the foreseeable future, I kindly requested that they proceed with mailing my book to me. Naturally, I was overjoyed when it arrived.
I eagerly anticipate reading the book and am particularly thrilled about the signatures that The Poisoned Pen has so graciously acquired for me. The thought of meeting any of the other authors in the future and having them sign my book is an exciting prospect.
I cannot express my deep appreciation for The Poisoned Pen and their exceptional staff.
