A Wild Rose (by Fiona Davis)

Fiona Davis wrote a short story, A Wild Rose, as part of Amazon’s Prime Reading/Audible offers. A Wild Rose is number five in the collection, A Point in Time. In this story, Fiona takes us to Carnegie Hall where we meet a famous pianist, Gloria Banderas. Gloria is scheduled to perform at Carnegie Hall when she experiences a strange ailment that affects her ability to play piano. The reader gets a peek into Gloria’s life; her marriage is not going well and her illness obviously causes significant problems with her career. She spends time living in a studio above Carnegie Hall with other artists that she befriends. It’s a pleasure to spend time getting to know Gloria, as she works to get to know herself.

I loved the epilogue, in which Fiona provides a brief historical background of Carnegie Hall and the events that took place during the time period of this short story.
