Ankle Snatcher (by Grady Hendrix)

Ankle Snatcher by Grady Hendrix is a terrifying short story. If you fear what lurks underneath your bed at night, this story will make your fears seem like a fairy tale. When Marcus was a child, his father blamed the boogeyman who lives under the bed for killing his mother. Before his father left, he warned Marcus to leave all of the lights on in the house, or the boogeyman would get him. Marcus didn’t really believe any of his father’s survival suggestions, but he never forgot them. Instead, he believed his father killed his mother.

As an adult, Marcus brings his new girlfriend to his house and she spends the night. This is where the story begins to get creepy. Shortly thereafter, the story takes many unexpected turns. I truly enjoyed this creepy tale that checked all of the boxes in the horror department. Many times, I blurted out “No way!” while listening. 😅

Ankle Snatcher is part of the Creature Feature collection from Amazon. I listened to the audiobook for free on Audible with my Amazon Prime membership. The audiobook is available “Only From Audible.”  Narration by Michael Crouch was really enjoyable.

I also listened to the following stories that are part of the Creature Feature collection. My reviews are linked below.

It Waits in the Woods by Josh Malerman

The Pram by Joe Hill
