Dead Ringer (by Lisa Scottoline)

Bennie Rosato’s character is the primary focus in Dead Ringer, book number eight, in the Rosato and Associates series by Lisa Scottoline. Bennie’s law firm needs income. She reluctantly agrees to take on a class action lawsuit with the support and knowledge of her team of lawyers.

When Bennie loses her wallet, her life begins to spiral out of control. As more things go wrong, the intensity of each event escalates. Another woman begins impersonating Bennie and she quickly realizes it must be her twin sister. Bennie frantically tries to find her sister to stop the madness. These two sisters have some serious childhood issues to work out.

This book wouldn’t be complete without a murder to be solved. Bennie struggles to cope with her twin sister stalking her and the loss of someone she cared for. Her law firm gets busy as her client caseload begins to grow.

Lisa cleverly builds a story with many layers of interest and suspense. We’ve got the associates in the law firm and their roles of working cases for court. Bennie is worried about keeping her law firm in business and her crazy twin sister causing problems at every turn. Then, we’ve got the murder victim and his family to learn about. I really enjoy how Lisa has written this series. Each book primarily focuses on a different character in the law firm. While each of the characters are relevant to the overall story, the spotlight is typically on one character. In Dead Ringer, it allowed me to feel as though I really got to know Bennie Rosato. And I truly like her.

I borrowed this audiobook from my local library with the Hoopla app. Pleasant narration performed by Barbara Rosenblat.

Pictured is a limited edition print by artist, PoeSoul Studio. It’s titled Psychedelica-biscus. You’re welcome to check it out on his website here. The print pictured is a one-of-a-kind embellished resin metal print. My picture does not do it justice! The resin contains beautiful glitter that makes this unique print sparkle in the light.
