No Exit (by Taylor Adams)

To celebrate the spooky reading season, I scrolled through my extensive Audible library for an exhilarating and heart-pounding read. “No Exit” by Taylor Adams immediately caught my attention, as it’s a book I’ve been wanting to read for a long time. Aside from taking place at the Christmas holiday season, it was a perfectly scary book.

No Exit” is a pulse-pounding psychological thriller that unfolds in a snowbound rest stop off a remote Colorado highway. On Christmas Eve, college student Darby Thorne finds herself stranded during a blizzard. As she pulls into a rest stop, she stumbles upon a shocking discovery: a little girl locked in a van, clearly kidnapped. With four strangers as her sole companions—and no cell service or escape from the storm—Darby must unravel who among them is the monster, racing against time in a claustrophobic game of cat-and-mouse where trust is a fatal mistake.

This audiobook was excellent—tense, twisty, and impossible to stop listening. The unique aspect of listening to audiobooks is that I don’t always know how much time I have left in the book. Depending on my current projects, I can easily spend hours listening in a day. As a result, I often don’t check the progress on my phone until I’ve completed a task. Many times, I thought the story was nearing its end based on the unfolding events, but I was always pleasantly surprised by the unexpected twists and turns.

I was thoroughly impressed by the incredible twists and turns of the story. There were so many, and at times, they were quite stressful! In fact, the unexpected twists continued right up until the very last sentence.

I’ve heard a lot of praise for this book, and I’m so glad I finally had the opportunity to read it. Now, I’m eager to explore all of Taylor Adams’ other works!

I purchased “No Exit” through my Audible membership, and Sarah Naughton’s narration was simply outstanding.
