Smoke Signal (by Marie Benedict & Kate Quinn)

Smoke Signal is a fun historical fiction novella set during WWII with famed mystery writer Agatha Christie at the center of the story. It’s a unique blend of storytelling by Marie Benedict, who’s written about Agatha Christie, and Kate Quinn, who brings her expertise in female code breakers to the table.

Osla Kendall is a code breaker by day and a reader of mystery stories at night. While reading Agatha Christie’s latest novel, N or M?, Osla finds a hidden message in the text. She uses her book club to reach out to Ms. Christie, and they quickly become friends. Together, they embark on a thrilling adventure of espionage and uncover secrets.

I acquired the audiobook of Smoke Signal through my Audible membership. It’s a short read, just over an hour long. I really liked the narration by Nicola Barber and Saskia Maarleveld.

Available below is an author event with Marie Benedict that I attended on Zoom.
