The Perfect Divorce (by Jeneva Rose)
I thoroughly enjoyed The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose, so I eagerly anticipated reading The Perfect Divorce. Set eleven years later, the book reunites readers with Sarah Morgan, a high-powered attorney now married to Bob Miller. When Sarah discovers Bob’s one-night stand, she swiftly files for divorce. However, the situation takes a dangerous turn when Bob’s affair partner goes missing, new DNA evidence reopens the old murder case against Sarah’s ex-husband Adam, and the couple becomes entangled in a vicious, high-stakes game of cat and mouse filled with manipulation, suspicion, and deadly secrets.
I genuinely enjoyed The Perfect Divorce. The writing style, suspense, and twists are reminiscent of the first book in the series. It appears that the author invested considerable time in building the story to seamlessly connect the two books. Although it’s been only a few months since I read the first book in the series, I believe it’s beneficial for readers who allow a significant time gap between reading these two books. There was one twist near the end that I figured out, but I honestly believe it was intentional. I don’t think the author intended it to be overly shocking.
I borrowed the audiobook of The Perfect Divorce from my local library using Hoopla. The recording features a large cast of narrators, including Mozhan Navabi, Andrew Eiden, Adam Lazarre-White, J. S. Arquin, Brittany Pressley, and Andi Arndt. It was an entertaining and engaging listening experience.

I have a side note to share about my reading companion and four-legged kid, Nikolette. Initially, I found it challenging to concentrate on this book while listening to it. During a nature trail walk, which I rarely take Nikolette due to the risk of ticks and wildlife encounters, she unfortunately tore her ACL. I was listening to the book at the time of the incident. As I navigated through the stress of her injury and the decision-making process regarding surgery, I struggled to maintain consistent listening sessions because my focus was easily disrupted. Consequently, it took me longer to complete this book compared to my usual pace. I’m grateful that the book was captivating, as it provided a mental respite from my worries about her. For now, we’ve decided to hold off on surgery and allow her to heal naturally. She’s currently taking anti-inflammatory medications prescribed by the vet, and we’re treating her holistically with turmeric, glucosamine, CBD, and red light therapy. Additionally, we’re implementing a significant amount of activity restriction to aid her recovery. Sometimes, Nikolette can be quite energetic and mischievous, so she can exhaust both of us.
