Chris Offutt
I love author events! I genuinely enjoy listening to a writer talk about their newest release, past books, their writing process, and anything else they want to share. I was unfamiliar with Chris Offutt when I saw the advertisement that he was going to be at Joseph-Beth Bookseller in Lexington, Kentucky to promote his new book Country Dark. He’s a Kentucky author and writes about Appalachian life. I am glad to have learned about him. Listening to him read from Country Dark made me want to pick up where he left off and just keep on reading. Offutt talked about a previous memoir he wrote, My Father, the Pornographer. Well, who couldn’t resist the intrigued that title provoked?! After Offutt finished speaking and answering questions, I ran over to grab a copy of My Father, the Pornographer before I got in the signing line. LOL!
Since he’s a Kentucky author, I asked him if he was friends with Silas House, which is why he inscribed the book “Yes, I’m a friend of Silas House!”
