Amazon First Reads

We have been Amazon Prime Members for a very long time. Probably since the program was implemented. Within the last few years I have been taking advantage of Amazon’s Prime Reading program. It works like a library where you can borrow ebooks and audiobooks for an unlimited length of time. I can borrow a max of 10 books at a time. I have only borrowed ebooks and audiobooks; however, the program also offers magazines.

Amazon Originals have been a great asset to Amazon Prime Reading. They solicit short stories from popular authors and create themed collections. I started enjoying these offers with the Nameless series by Dean Koontz. I have since been captivated by stories written by some of my favorite authors: Joe Hill, Kristina McMorris, Lisa Scottoline, Fiona Davis, Ruth Ware…sorry, I could go on and on. 😆

A few months ago, my attention was drawn to something new, Amazon First Reads. I quickly learned that as an Amazon Prime Member, I am eligible to receive one free ebook delivered directly to my Kindle! The first day of each month I receive an email with a selection of ebooks that are scheduled to be released the following month. The selection offers diverse genres: suspense, historical fiction, domestic thriller, women’s fiction, mystery and police procedural to name a few. Options include debut authors and well known authors.

I absolutely love getting a free ebook every month. I’m always excited to see what books are being offered. I happily check out the descriptions for each book to narrow down to my final selection. Many of the books I don’t select are added to my wishlist for future purchase or to be borrowed from my local library.

Some months Amazon First Reads offers an extra surprise. For instance, one month, I was able to select two ebooks from the monthly selections. For the month of December, I selected my ebook and then received a credit to choose a second ebook from another selection of ebooks. Who doesn’t like getting free books?

Now that my Kindle library is steadily expanding, I have begun incorporating more reading of ebooks into my repertoire. My Kindle has a new home on my nightstand where I read a few pages before falling asleep. I love that Amazon First Reads has expanded my opportunities to devour more books!
