Poe Knows: A Miscellany of Macabre Musings

The other day, my husband and I headed out for lunch and had a wonderful day visiting a few bookstores. Halloween season is the best time of year to find Edgar Allan Poe books and novelty items.

The latest addition to our Poe book collection is a charming book titled, ‘Poe Knows: A Miscellany of Macabre Musings.’ It’s an illustrated compilation of 200 quotes that showcases his wit and wisdom in bite-sized pieces. The book is organized thematically into chapters like “Madness,” “Dreams,” “Revenge,” and “Mortality.” This presentation of Poe’s haunting insights in a lighter, more accessible context, with engaging introductions and spot illustrations, invites readers to savor his timeless obsessions without the full chill of his tales. It’s a perfect choice for fans seeking a taste of the raven’s brilliance.

We also brought home a beautiful decorative book-shaped ceramic planter, shown in the picture above, featuring Poe’s famous titles, including ‘The Raven,’ ‘The Tell-Tale Heart,’ and ‘The Fall of the House of Usher.’ It’s a delightful addition to our collection of Poe-related novelty items.
