Bad Date (by Ellery Lloyd)
This is my first time reading the husband-and-wife writing team, Ellery Lloyd. I acquired the ebook of “Bad Date,” a short story, through the Amazon First Reads program.
“Bad Date” is a fast-paced thriller that keeps the reader guessing until the very end. Fay Roper, a divorced mom and actress, struggles to date due to her celebrity status. She’s met some men she’s genuinely liked, but they don’t seem to last long. Encouraged by her best friend, Poppy, Fay decides to sign up for a new dating app exclusive for celebrities and wealthy individuals. Using a fake name, she meets Oliver, but neither of them is entirely honest about their dating intentions.
This short story is expertly crafted, with the suspense perfectly timed. The characters’ true motives are revealed gradually, leading to a series of shocking moments that kept me on the edge of my seat. The ending is dramatic and abrupt, leaving me questioning the fate of the characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and am eager to read more by Ellery Lloyd. In fact, “The Club” is already on my wishlist.
