Pigeon Tony’s Last Stand (by Lisa Scottoline)
Periodically, Lisa Scottoline sends out a newsletter to inform her fans of what work she has coming out. In the recent newsletter I received, Lisa promoted her short story, Pigeon Tony’s Last Stand, which is part of the We Could Be Heroes collection available through Amazon. I was able to listen to the audiobook for free on Audible through my Amazon Prime membership.
You can visit Lisa’s website here and sign up for her newsletter too! She also sends the most adorable Christmas cards with pictures of her gorgeous Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. While signing up for her newsletter, you can also subscribe to her weekly Chick Wit Humorous Essay. It’s hilarious and I look forward to seeing it in my inbox every Sunday morning.
Pigeon Tony’s Last Stand is a short story from Lisa’s Rosato & DiNunzio series. I’m working my way through the Rosato & Associates series, so I haven’t yet made it to the Rosato & DiNunzio books. Pigeon Tony is a character that has made appearances in the books I’ve read thus far. He’s an adorably sweet, older Italian gentleman. In this short story, Pigeon Tony defends a boy in his neighborhood who is pressured into joining the local gang of destructive drug dealers. He reaches out to local law enforcement with the help of Mary; however, Pigeon Tony does not receive the help necessary. Pigeon Tony then enlists the help of people he can influence.
This short story is heartwarming and empowering for those who can make a difference in their communities.
