The Asheville Christmas Cabin (by Hope Holloway and Cecelia Scott)
The Asheville Christmas Cabin, the last holiday-themed book I’ll read this season, caught my attention through the countless book-related emails I receive daily. When my husband and I lived in Raleigh, North Carolina, we made regular trips to Asheville. Although we no longer reside in North Carolina, we still live relatively close and visit often. When I came across the book’s title, I couldn’t resist checking it out. The description sounded delightful, and I was thrilled to add it to my holiday reading list.
The Asheville Christmas Cabin, the first book in the Carolina Christmas series by Hope Holloway and Cecelia Scott, follows the story of triplet sisters who receive a mysterious invitation from their jet-setting aunt to spend December at their family’s cozy cabin nestled in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. The cabin holds both cherished childhood memories and painful ones. Amidst the festive lights, snowy vistas, and family revelations, the sisters confront personal struggles such as stress, failing marriages, and lost dreams. Through these challenges, they rediscover their sisterly bonds, find sweet romance, heal, and embrace the magic of new beginnings.
I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this book, from its captivating cover to its enchanting Christmas-themed narrative. Each of the main characters was endearing and easily relatable. I appreciated how the unique conflicts faced by each sister were also relatable to one another. The scene descriptions were absolutely beautiful, painting vivid pictures of the setting. While I understand that this book is categorized as women’s fiction, I believe it would be more accurately described as a cozy holiday romance.
One of the highlights of the book was the inclusion of Biltmore Estate as a significant thread that connected to one of the sisters. Biltmore is an incredible place to visit, and I have fond memories of my first visit as a young girl. I’ve made numerous return trips since then. I’ve also read a few books about Biltmore and the Vanderbilt family, which I’ve linked below for those interested in learning more.
Vanderbilt: The Rise and Fall of an American Dynasty
Astor: The Rise and Fall of an American Fortune
For me, this was an idyllic holiday read that I thoroughly enjoyed while cooking, baking, and preparing for family holiday gatherings. I’m incredibly grateful for discovering this book and eagerly anticipate reading more books in the Carolina Christmas series during the next holiday season.
I borrowed the audiobook of The Asheville Christmas Cabin from my local library using Hoopla. Leslie Howard’s delightful narration brings this festive and family-oriented story to life.
