The Perfect Son (by Freida McFadden)
I’m still hooked on Freida McFadden’s books. I chose to give the Housemaid series a pause and read The Perfect Son. It was another great one! Freida delivers that unexpected twist I’ve come to rely on. The twist in this book literally stopped me in my tracks.
Erika Cass seems to have it all: a loving husband, two adorable teenaged kids, and a seemingly perfect life. Her eldest son, Liam, is a real gem - he’s got great grades, loves running track, and is a natural at debate. And his younger sister, Hannah, is just going through her typical teenage phase of snarkiness. Her husband, Jason, is the classic patriarch of the house, running his own business and keeping everything in order.
Olivia, a teenage girl, goes missing, and Liam, the last person to see her, becomes a prime suspect. Erika has always questioned the authenticity of Liam’s perfect image and personality. Everyone at school and in town believes Liam is responsible for Olivia’s disappearance. As the evidence builds, Erika’s suspicions of her son grow stronger.
I got the audiobook of The Perfect Son from Audible. The narrator, Suzie Althens, was great, but Daniel Thomas May’s voice in this one wasn’t my cup of tea. Luckily, his part was short, or I might have switched to a physical copy. I wish his voice had sounded different.
I’m working my way through all of Freida McFadden’s books. My previous reviews are linked below.
